This stamped concrete sidewalk was produced using BC Ashler stamps along with Brickform’s ashlar slate stamps, reducing the amount of pattern repetition.
Most stamped concrete installations look very realistic and are hard to distinguish from real stone or slate. But too much pattern repetition can sometimes take away from the authentic appearance. Now a new line of concrete stamps from Walttools lets you expand on the looks you can achieve by mixing up the sizing and pattern options possible with the three most popular Brickform patterns (ashlar cut slate, random stone, and London cobble). “We took patterns that were decades old and breathed new life into the look they can provide,” says Don Ciesielski of Walttools.
The BC stamp line from Walttools is custom made from hand-picked, chiseled stones arranged into patterns that are fully compatible with the respective Brickform lines. BC stamps feature textures and stones designed to complement and improve the look of the Brickform stamps while exhibiting far less repetition.
“It’s as if we have expanded Brickform’s set. If you do a job with Brickform patterns A, B and C, for example, you get those three patterns repeated. We made a D, E and F, so now there are six patterns available to use and hence half the repetition of before,” Ciesielski explains. “The textures on our stones are very similar to the ones Brickform uses but are all distinct and do not repeat anything. Our patterns also use small, medium and large stones, which adds more differentiation.”
The BC Ashler and Random stamp sets from Walttools each have three different patterns, and the BC Cobble comes in one compatible pattern. In addition to using BC stamps in combination with Brickform stamps, you can use them alone as a standard stamp set. Made of industrial polyurethane, the stamps will last indefinitely with the proper care, according to Ciesielski. They also come with a lifetime guarantee against defects or failures. The stamps are sold in sets or singles through local distributors. You can also order them online. For more information, visit www.walttools.com.
