Project completed by Scott Davis, Pro Floors Plus, Lynn Haven, Fla.
Two factors drive success in the decorative concrete flooring industry - technical skills and appropriate products. This project at Capital City Runners in Tallahassee, Fla. proves exactly that. The running store, which was opening in a new shopping center, hired Pro Floors Plus to transform the flooring in their shoe section. They were looking for something that would look great and require minimal maintenance.
Armed with dyes and a high performance sealer from H&C Concrete, Pro Floors Plus was able to deliver a floor that went above and beyond the owners’ expectations. Scott Davis recalls that surface preparation was the biggest challenge on this project. “The existing concrete had been sealed by a previous contractor which was prohibiting the dye from penetrating the floor. We had to implement aggressive diamond grinding - one pass with 16 grit diamonds and a second pass with 30 grit,” he says.
Once the surface was ready, these are the steps they took:
“We selected this particular urethane sealer because the owners wanted something that would be easy to recoat and would withstand heavy foot traffic,” Scott explains. When it comes to maintenance, the floor is Swiffered nightly and cleaned with a microfiber mop once a week. Thanks the Pro Floors Plus and their skilled team, as well as high quality products from H&C Concrete, this store now has a one-of-a-kind floor that will serve them well for years.
