Concrete Slide
For a young child in Bumi Serpong Damai, Tangerang, Indonesia, nothing could be more fun than having your own slide from your bedroom to the kitchen in the family home. The 'Play House,' designed by Indonesian architects Aboday has an open layout with whitewashed walls and concrete ceilings. The two-story house has an exposed concrete exterior as well. In addition to its large thermal mass (due to its concrete construction, natural ventilation and shading, and heat resistant finishes), the house is the most unique one on the block because of its built-in slide. Made of concrete, the spiraling slide is the transportation mode of choice for the 5-year-old in the home from his bedroom on the second floor to the dining room/kitchen on the first floor.
