New! Audio Podcast from The Concrete Network
The 10%-90% Rule of Estimating Dictates Who You Hire to EstimateThe Concrete Network has launched a new podcast for concrete construction contractors. A podcast, according to Wikipedia, is a blending of the words in Apple's "iPod" and "broadcasting". It is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically.
This podcast is a free audio feed interview of Jim Peterson, president of The Concrete Network, explaining the 10-90 rule of an estimating strategy. Ten percent of your efforts will be spent on hard numbers, and ninety percent of your efforts will be spent on soft issues. Hard numbers include how much concrete the job will use, how much sand or base will the sub-grade take, how much will it cost to excavate the footings, how much labor will be used, how much rebar, how much tractor time, and how much equipment do we need on the job. Thats what takes up 10% of your time. Click below to listen to Peterson explain the other 90%--the soft issues.
